The home dashboard is the first screen you see after signing in to the ePOS waiter app. It gives you a live snapshot of how the shift is going — how many orders are active, how many tables are occupied, where those orders stand, and quick links to every low-frequency task you might need during a shift.
What you see on the dashboard
The dashboard loads automatically when you open the app. Pull down anywhere on the screen to refresh all data at once.
Period selector
At the top of the screen, a drop-down lets you change which time window the stats reflect:
- Today (default)
- Yesterday
- This week
- This month
Change the period at any time; the stat cards and order status breakdown update immediately.
Duty card
If attendance is enabled for your account, a duty card appears near the top of the screen. It shows:
- Whether you are on duty or off duty
- A live elapsed timer (HH:MM:SS) that counts up from the moment you clocked in
Tap the card to open the full attendance screen where you can clock in, clock out, or start and end a break.
The duty card is hidden for staff who do not have the attendance permission on their role.
Quick actions
Below the duty card is a grid of quick-action tiles — one tap to reach any of these screens without navigating the main menu:
| Tile | What it opens |
|---|
| Shift | Open or close a shift, record cash transactions, view shift history |
| Print Jobs | View the print job queue, retry failed jobs |
| Reservations | View and manage table reservations |
| Attendance | Clock in / out, start or end a break |
| Switch User | Switch to a different staff account on the same device |
| Settings | App preferences, printer setup, terminal pairing, and more |
Tiles are shown only for actions your role has permission to perform. If you do not see a tile (for example Shift or Reservations), your manager can grant the relevant permission in the web admin.
Quick stats cards
Four cards give you an at-a-glance count for the selected period:
| Card | What it counts |
|---|
| Total orders | All orders created in the period |
| Active orders | Orders that are still open (not yet paid or cancelled) |
| Tables running | Tables currently occupied |
| Tables available | Tables that are free |
Order status breakdown
Below the stat cards, a row of colour-coded chips shows exactly how many orders are sitting at each stage:
- In kitchen — ticket sent to the kitchen, food being prepared
- Ready — kitchen has marked the food ready
- Billed — receipt generated, waiting for payment
- Paid — order settled
- Cancelled — order voided
The counts reflect the period you selected with the period selector.
Printer status
A printer status card shows:
- How many printers are configured on this device
- How long ago the device last checked the print queue (shown as “X seconds ago”)
Tap Configure printers on the card to jump straight to the printer setup screen.
Waiter requests
If a customer at a table has sent a call-waiter request (via a QR code or table-side button), the request appears in this section with the table name and a message. A red badge next to the heading shows the count of pending requests.
To dismiss a request, tap Done on the card. The request is marked as completed and disappears from the list. Tap Refresh to pull the latest requests from the server.
Restaurant and branch info
At the bottom of the screen you can see your restaurant’s name, logo, branch name, address, timezone, and currency. This is a read-only reference — changes are made in the web admin under Restaurant Information.
Permissions
Certain tiles and sections on the dashboard depend on your role’s permissions:
- Shift tile — requires permission to open shifts, close shifts, or view shift reports
- Reservations tile — requires the view reservations permission
- Attendance tile and duty card — requires the attendance permission
- Switch User tile — requires the switch user on device permission
Staff without these permissions will not see the corresponding tile or card.
