Recipes link menu items to inventory items. They define how much of each ingredient is used per dish (e.g., 1 pizza = 200g cheese, 100g flour). When orders are placed, stock is reduced automatically.

Overview

  • Create recipes that link menu items to inventory ingredients
  • Set quantity of each ingredient per serving
  • View and edit recipes
  • Control stock deduction when orders are placed

Prerequisites

  • Menu Items and Inventory Items must exist.
  • You need permission to manage Recipes (Show Recipe).
  • Inventory must be enabled for your restaurant.

Step-by-Step Actions

1. Open Recipes

Recipes
  1. In the left sidebar, expand Inventory.
  2. Click Recipes.
  3. The Recipes page opens.

2. Create a new recipe

  1. Click Add Recipe or Create.
  2. Select the Menu item (the dish you sell).
  3. If the item has variations (e.g., size), select the variation.
  4. Add ingredients:
    • Select the Inventory item
    • Enter Quantity per serving (e.g., 0.2 for 200g if unit is kg)
    • Ensure the Unit matches
  5. Repeat for each ingredient in the dish.
  6. Click Save or Create.

3. Edit a recipe

  1. Find the recipe (by menu item).
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Add, remove, or change ingredient quantities.
  4. Click Save.

4. Delete a recipe

  1. Find the recipe.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm.
  4. Stock will no longer be deducted for this menu item.
Unit conversion: Ensure recipe units match inventory item units—if inventory is in kg, quantity 0.2 means 200g. If stock is insufficient when an order is placed, deduction may fail; check Inventory settings for how the system handles this. Verify deduction by checking Inventory movements after completing an order.

Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

MistakeHow to avoid
Wrong quantity or unitUse the same unit as the inventory item (e.g., 0.2 kg = 200 g).
Missing ingredientsAdd all main ingredients so stock is accurate.
Variation not selectedFor items with sizes, create a recipe per variation if they use different amounts.

End Result
